Project AntiPlastic

We are developing a portable plastic recycling machine that anyone can use to turn waste plastic into plastic bricks which is cheap but stronger than the clay bricks. It will reduce plastic garbage and also help people to earn livelihood from selling the plastic bricks. We are also researching an eco-brick manufacturing setup, which is also a cost effective yet eco-friendly process to manufacture clay brick alternatives that are better than clay brick.

800 thousand tons of plastic garbage are produced in Bangladesh, where only 23% are recycled. 73,000 tons of plastic garbage ends up in the sea by Padma, Meghna and Jamuna River. Around 4000 plastic product manufacturers are there in Bangladesh. Plastic takes more than 500 years to decompose, and research suggests in 2050 there will be more plastic than fishes in the sea, and every seabird species on the planet will be eating plastic. People are bound to use plastic as there are not many alternatives available. Keeping that in mind we launched Project AntiPlastic to design & promote plastic alternatives that are eco-friendly. We are promoting and training on making clay and bamboo utensils such as water bottle, plate, spoon, that’s helping reduce the plastic use. We up-cycle plastic to make lights, recycle them into eco-bricks, eco-block and train the underprivileged on how to make them. Manufacturing clay bricks cause huge environmental damages, in Bangladesh 7000 brick fields manufacture 23000 crore bricks every year. To do so it requires 60 lakh tons of coal which comes from trees, and 3350 million cubic feet of clay which comes from hills. The process emits 15.67 million tons of carbon (CO2) in the environment.

We believe in bringing solutions first rather than creating awareness. Once we successfully design a solution, then we arrange online and offline sessions to discuss those solutions, we do workshops at different levels to promote the alternatives.

We plan to launch the PlasticPreneur project once we have 2-3 tested plastic alternatives. In this project we will provide underprivileged youth with technology & business models to start their plastic recycling & upcycling micro-enterprise.
